Dr. W.W. Bailey's residence and office, circa 1887, was located a few blocks east of the riverfront area. Bailey was the son of Dr. Joseph H. Bailey, an Army surgeon at Fort Gibson, Indian Territory. He was schooled in Michigan, served in the Union Army as a surgeon during the Civil War and married Miss Lillie Main, daughter of Dr. J.H.T. Main.
