From the northwest corner of North Seventh Street and Garrison Avenue, Fort Smith's major downtown thoroughfare appears to be decorated for the Fourth of July or an Election Day sometime between 1907 and 1910. The multi-story white brick First National Bank building has not yet been built (circa 1910/1911), but the Merchants National Bank building, masonry corner far right, has. Notice all the red-white-and-blue bunting and decorations on the Hotel Main across the street. See inside the Hotel Main.
