George Kaufman stands next to his postal service buggy somewhere near Fort Smith circa 1910. H.E. Huber wrote the following: Tom Taylor's son, Walter and another man by the name of Will Pace robbed my grand father RFD No. 3 carrier George Adam Kaufman at gun point near Diamond Grove on December 7, 1914. For their efforts they got $169.00 and five years in Leavenworth Penitentiary. In eluding a dragnet, Pace and Taylor killed a dog, Queenie, who was used to track them. |
