Here you can see the "north building" facing Falconer Street (South 31st Street) with a truck parked in front of it ready for loading. The "south building," added later, faces the railroad tracks and the water tower which supplied the sprinkler system is visible to the rear. The buildings were in fact wings of one structure which formed an L-shape footprint. The Arkansas Coffin Company, renamed the Arkansas Casket Company in the late 1950s, closed for business in 1989. Today, it is used as storage by the Eklkins Hardware & Machinery Sales Co. |
