The Fort Smith Historical Society had a special meeting on September 19, 2005, at 6:00 PM at the main library. There were 8 members present. President Billy Higgins called the meeting to order. He dispensed with reading the minutes of the last meeting, and distributed copies of the proposed new Constitution and By-laws.

J.P. Chancey and Chuck Raney discussed the changes and asked for
comments and suggestions. Several more changes were recommended. The new Constitution and By-laws will not be brought up at the regular
October 19th meeting, but will be voted on at a called meeting on
November 14. Higgins congratulated Chancey and Raney for the work
they have done.

Higgins said we don't need a Policy Manual - that the minutes can serve
as policy.

Carole Barger reported on our booth at the RSVP fair at Central Mall.

There was discussion on conducting interviews and publishing memoirs.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned by the
president.
